Can HCG Help In Restoring Testicular Size?
Question: Are there any studies that suggest for an elderly male while using Androgel testosterone therapy, the resulting testicular atrophy can be reversed by using HCG if the cause of the atrophy is primary hypogonadism. In other words can HCG be effective and safe just to cope with testicular atrophy alone?
Brief Answer:
For how long did you use it?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this concern that you have raised. Yes, use of HCG has been shown to help restore testicular size in a number of individuals with steroid induced testicular atrophy. However, studies vary enormously depending on the duration of use and the degree of atrophy. Longer duration and more marked atrophy are associated with poor treatment outcome.
Can you please share with me the reasons for considering this treatment and the duration of use of testosterone gel?
I hope to hear from you. I wish you well.

I have used Androgel, Fortesta, Testim and others since 2000 all prescribed by my Endochrinologist. My query on HCG use results from the fact that libido is normal from the application of those testosterone supplements and I'm just interested if testicle size can be increased. It's personal vanity I guess.
As to sperm vitality, that's not a concern as we've made our contribution to the maintenance of the human race. A contributory factor related to the Hypogonadism was a diagnosis of Hereditary Hemochromatosis back in 1994.
Parenthetically, my Endochrinologist, Urologist, and Hematologist all talk to each other and to me. Thanks for your help on this specific question.

Brief Answer:
HCG would not help in this case!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If the cause of this was a disease like hemochromatosis, HCG cannot reverse this. HCG could have helped in hormone related issues and not hemochromatosis.
Like you said, all these efforts would be geared for cosmetic reasons as you are no longer interested in sperm vitality. To me, I will suggest you don't get bothered about this.
I hope this helps. I wish you well.
