Can HIV Be Contracted Through Dental Procedures?
I have been suffering from a mild fever for last two weeks. I got several tests done but the reason of fever is yet to be known. I got this fever after 4 days of a dental treatment(cleaning and cavity filling). Sir, is there any chance that I have been infected with HIV through dental treatment. I have no other connection getting HIV.
I am scared. Please help.
HIV is unlikely as the fever started on the 4th day of the dental procedure
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Fever can be caused by umpteen number of reasons. A good and experienced physician would examine you thoroughly and along with the reports of investigations, would be able to arrive at the correct diagnosis. Then the treatment with appropriate and adequate doses of anti-microbicidal drug can achieve a complete cure. Herbal drugs can not be so reliable. Urinary tract infection need along course to get a total cure whereas a few antibiotics in higher dose only can reach prostate and clear the infection.
In any dental clinic if they follow the basic aseptic precautions and universal work precautions there is no possibility of HIV transmission in a clinical set up.
Earliest HIV manifestations can occur only 3-4 weeks after any possible infection and not by 4 days. That itself ruled out the possibility of HIV.
But testing for HIV is the only final answer and one can not predict the possibility of HIV by guessing.
