Can HIV Be Contracted Through Non-penetrative Sex?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Oct 2015
Question: Hi sir

5 weeks back I went to a massage parlour where the girl gave me a body to body massage, during this she rubbed her vagina on my penis while she was wearing underwear and my penis was covered with a very thin cloth.
If there was a little cut on my penis 2 hrs old what are the chances of an exposure to HIV?
I also I had gone for an antibody test after 12 days of possible exposure and it was negative.

Thanks in advance for but reply..!!

Brief Answer:
HIV transmission risk is very low in your case.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I understand your concern.

The possibility of transmission of HIV can exist only if there is an exchange of infected fluids between the genitals.

In your case, the possibility of exchange of any virus is very low due to lack of real penetrating act.

The cut on the penis can transfer virus only if it has come in contact with vaginal secretions if they are only infected with the virus.

In the absence of contact of secretions, the possibility of HIV is extremely low.

I advise you to repeat the test after 90 days for accurate results.

Also, you can get RT-PCR test for 100% accuracy as early as 9 days onwards.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.

Hi sir,

Thanks for the reply
I am not sure if there was any cut on the penis.
And after my first test physician has ensured me that I don't have HIV and has asked me to repeat the test after a month and that will be just for assurance.
But from the day I went for test I have been feeling a mild burning sensation in my genitals.
Is that a symptom of HIV or any other stds.
Or can it be psychological because it started right after the physician told me that genital burning is a symptom. I have also had mild cold like symptoms after that, but no flu or fever.
Burning sensation I have also experienced earlier when I have had no sexual encounters.
For this my physician has prescribed me cital cyrup.
But mild sensation is still there not sure if it is psychological.

Brief Answer:
Complete urine examination is warranted.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I understand your concern.

Get a repeat HIV test after 3 months.

Burning sensation can be both psychological and sexual activity related.

It is better to get a complete urine analysis in such cases to rule out Urinary tract infections-UTI's.

Cital syrup is a good one.

Additionally I recommend Cranberry juice which has excellent activity in the prevention of UTI's.

HIV may not directly cause burning sensation.

Hence for confirmation, it is better to get a complete urine analysis.

Post your further queries if any,
Thank you.

Hi sir

The burning sensation which I was talking about is not there anymore.but i do have a little cold and slight headache, which I generally get due to sinus problems.
Can this be a symptom.
Also as I mentioned earlier about a cut in genitals.I m not sure about it as I did not see it on that day or even later but I usually get a slight rupture on skin when it is dry while masturbation, that is why I m worried that when she was rubbing her vagina against my genitals at that time what are the chances of getting a rupture. And is there a possibility that vaginal fluids might not have come out as the lady was wearing an underwear and there was a very thin cloth on my penis ?
And 1more thin sir.
In have read on many websites that frottage(genital rubbing) does not have HIV risk. Does my case comes under frottage?

Brief Answer:
This is frottage.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I understand your concern.

Yes, frottage will not cause the transfer of HIV virus.

Your case comes under frottage.I do agree.

Also, mechanical barriers like Cloth can largely prevent the exchange of fluids.

Hence, the risk is extremely low in your case.

Cold symptoms are extremely non-specific for any STI.Hence, we cannot make an attribution based on this.

Since, burning sensation has resolved, it should not be a concern now.

Pertaining to cut/crack on the penis, nothing is conclusive. It can be a friction injury due to masturbation. But nevertheless, you need not worry as there is no exchange of genital secretions.

The chances of rupture at the time of frottage are very less, but if it is very intense cracks can occur.

Thank you.

Hi sir,

As I have mentioned above that the girl was wearing underwear and my penis was covered with a thin cloth and there was no penetration, in this case is it possible that fluids would have come out from girls vagina??
One more thing, yesterday I went for a trip and then in the evening time I again started feeling burning sensation in penis. I sweated a lot and water intake was less. Drinking less water can be a reason or are there chances of some infection?

Brief Answer:
10 panel STD test will be helpful to treat and eliminate 100% risk.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I understand your concern.

In presence of mechanical barriers like cloth and underwear, the transmission of fluids is very difficult.

It is better if you can get a 10 panel STD screen and a complete urine analysis.

Based on the results , a short course of antibiotics may be curative.

I can provide you the prescription for the same, send me your email in your follow up.

Post your further queries if any.

Thank you.

Hi sir,

I have taken an HIV duo ultra test after 45 days of possible exposure and the test was negative.
Little burning was still there, but doctor said that this it is due to anxiety.
Doctor has told me that there is no need to get tested again for hiv as this test is conclusive after 45 days.

Brief Answer:
A negative result virtually rules out infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

Okay, Sir, that is fine.

Your doctor seems apt and scientific in his approach.

HIV ultra duo is enough sensitive.

A negative result virtually rules out infection.
