Can HIV Be Contracted Through Non-penetrative Sexual Activity?

Question: Hi.
Here is my situation that I want to get advice on: I am a XXXXXXX male and got a massage that turned into a sensual/erotic massage last weekend (not what I was expecting, but I am not a prude and it was fine). The massage consisted of the massage therapist masturbating both of us off at the end of the massage to completion. Although his hands switched between himself and myself a few times, there was no other notable contact. No anal, no oral, no kissing.

After the massage I touched-based with the CMT and asked if he was clean. He was embarrassed and told me that he was HIV+ but was on meds and undetectable (and otherwise clean). He also claimed to be free of other STDs.

Based on what I described above, what are my chances of getting HIV or other STDs? What is my risk? Do you suggest I get tested? Thoughts?

Note: One reason why I am a bit mental about this contact is that I started a prostatitis episode about the same time and am getting concerned that those symptoms might be and STD.

Brief Answer:
There is no risk of STDs

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have read your entire query in detail and i have understood your concern.

There is no risk of Hiv or any other STD with indirect contact through his hands. STDs are transmitted through direct contact, either unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex. However you may get tested for your own satisfaction.

Hello. Thank you for your response. I just want to clarify to make sure your answer is still as you stated.

The other guys hands did go back and forth from his penis to mine. So, I guess his hand could have transferred anything back and forth. Does this open up any risk of HIV/Herpes/Syphilis/etc. to the situation?

As you might understand, with my prostatitis episode I am a bit mental that these symptoms are somehow connected to my massage situation.

Brief Answer:
No risk

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

The reason i said so is that I dont think there would have been any exchange of infectious genital secretions through his hands which usually happens during a sexual intercourse. This is because males anyways don't have any sort of genital secretions on the outer surface of glans or shaft which could have possibly contaminated his hands. Moreover, the infecting organisms cannot survive on dried genital surfaces.
The only remote possibility is if his ejaculate first contaminated his hands and then that was later transferred on to your genital mucosa through his hands.
Hands anyways dont present any risk, whatsoever, of transmission of an STD, independently and on their own.

Does this appy to HSV too? What are the risk factors for that?

Brief Answer:
Risk for herpes is negligible

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Yes, I would say the same thing for Hsv too.
Risk factors for acquiring herpes are direct sexual contact i.e either oral, vaginal or anal sex. The risk is more for unprotected sex than for protected sex and more during an actve epsiode of herpes when virus shedding is at its peak, than at other times.
