Can HIV Be Contracted Through Sexual Activity?

Risk of HIV too low.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query.I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome back to health care magic.
The risk of HIV transmission is too low, as I have said to you earlier. So you need not get worried about it too much.
If you still feel there is high risk, you can go for PEP ( post exposure prophylaxis) within 3 days of exposure. It will minimize the possibility of hiv transmission, if exposed to HIV. You can discuss with your doctor in detail and come to conclusion regarding PEP.
Otherwise you can go for STDs test now. And later HIV 1&2 RNA PCR after 10 days exposure to relieve your anxiety.
You can also consult a psychiatrist or psychologist for counseling.
You can get back for any clarification.

You can get it in government hospitals with Antiretroviral therapy (ART) centers .These will be there in all government medical colleges , district hospitals depending on your locality.

Negative but not conclusive at this stage.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
It is good that the test is negative for HIV.
It is a test done to detect antibodies against HIV.Antibodies against HIV are formed after 2 - 6 weeks after exposure. So these tests are considered conclusive after 3 months exposure.
It is not conclusive at this stage.
There are tests which are relevant at different stages of exposure.
You can go for HIV 1&2 RNA PCR test after 12 days exposure. This test negativity relieves your anxiety to almost 99%.Usually this is slightly costly.
Once it comes negative you can repeat the today's (antibodies) test after 3 months. That will be final conclusive results.
Now you relax .Do not worry.
You can get back for any clarification.
