Question: Hi, my doctor just put me on Hyprex several days ago for UTI for 18 years..I have taked Cipro over those years and he thinks this Hyprex may work....QUESTION 1. I know that the drug works best if my urine is more acidic...2. I know that some foods like oranges, tomatoes are acidic but when metabolized turn alkaline...the foods I did eat always were fruits, vegetables and dairy with very little meat and now its the opposite. This doesn't sound like a healthy way to eat for life! QUESTION nowhere can I find foods and drinks that I can eat and I have looked and looked. can you help with an itemized list..thanks
Brief Answer:
Answered both categorically
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I have read your query.
To answer the 1st question-
Hiprex is an antibiotic that works on inactive urine infection.
In the acidic urine, it turns to a chemical called formaldehyde.
This is toxic to bacteria.
In urine this would kill the bacteria.
Hence the effect.
As for the second question,
You can try following things/foods to help cure your uti
1. take plenty of water to help wash out bacteria. To make it more effective, baking soda needs to be added
2. Cranberries, or its unsweetened juice, blueberries and pineapples has been in use for years for uti
3. yoghurt also helps.
4. onions and garlics are another way. but many people do not eat these items.
Thanks
