Can I Continue Deplatt And Atorva Further After 22 Years?

Posted on Fri, 21 Jun 2024
Question: I am your old consultant.I have one doubt which i would like to get it cleared by you.I am 80 year old.Had diabetes type II since 2011 and mild hypertension since 1994. I am told in the year 1977 i.e 46 years back i had T wave inversion in lead 1 2 3 & 6.I have never visited the cardiologist for the hypertension and this T wave inversion since 1980.There is no problem and the hypertension is quite under control and normal.

I am taking Betacard 50 mg once a day since 1998, Amtas 2.5 mg (twice a day) since 1998 and Deplatt once a day since 2017. 1999, Atorva 10 mg since 1998.My tryglycerides level is 200 as on aug 2022.

My doubt is since i am using these medicines since a long time,do they make any harm in the long run. Can i continue Deplatt and Atorva further. Do i have to increase Atgorva dosage ? Is betacard safe .
Kindly advise.

Brief Answer:
As these are required, so you need to continue

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I will suggest take your recent report and ecg and if possible echo report to cardiologist as physical examination and Blood pressure measurement all things will tell need of these drugs, they have side effects but it needs to see risk to benefit ratio that needs physical consultation, At these triglycerides atorva can be used, and other meds you mention are for blood pressure if you have hypertension , then need to be taken. And after looking your report it's essential you continue these meds. Do little bit of walk and listen good music and be with friends and do breathing exercises and meditation, if you keep happy it will help you a lot too and visit once to cardiologist and endocrinologist too
Hope this helps, let me know if I can assist you further
Thanks
