Can I Discontinue Taking So M Much Iron And Vitamin-C Medication When My Hemoglobin Count Has Improved?
Question: I was anemic and my dr put me on 325 mg ferrous sulfate and i am taking vitamin c, b-12, tri-sprintec (birth control), propaneol and clonsapam and omega 3. My hemoglobin has went up and would it be ok to quit taking that much iron and the vitamin c and b-12 and take a multivitamin called Naturelo whole food multivitamin. She also put me on a gluten free diet to see if i have celiac and ive been doing that for a month and did bloodwork which wont be back for 10 days. Would it be ok to take a probiotic? I just feel like i’m taking so much stuff
Brief Answer:
You can switch to Naturelo while food multivitamin
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
If your hemoglobin has risen to normal levels, you do not need the high doses of Iron, vitamin C or B12 and you can switch to the Naturelo multivitamin. I looked up the contents of the multivitamin and it contains enough Vitamin C and Iron for maintenance therapy.
Hope this answers your question

Can i start right away or do i need to wein off what i am on? Also if fish makes me sick would fish oil pills make me sick
Brief Answer:
You can switch right away if hemoglobin normalized
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
You can switch right away to the multivitamin if the hemoglobin level has increased above 12.5 mg/dl. However, make sure to test Hemoglobin levels and RBC counts in 3 months to make sure that normal hemoglobin levels are maintained.
People who do not tolerate fish well can have issues taking fish oil too. You can include flax seeds in your diet which is high in omega-3 fats instead of fish oil.
