Question: I was diagnosed with cervical HPV around 5 or six years ago and had a cone biopsy to removed the abnormal cells, everything has been normal since. I have severe health anxiety and am now worried of getting oral/oralpharyngeal cancer from HPV. I am 33 years old and am wondering what my odds of developing this HPV related oral cancer is.

Brief Answer:
Rare chances

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
Oral and cervical HPV. infection is caused by the same strain of virus, which is HPV 16.
However, when one develops cervical infection, immune system of the body develops antibodies, which protect the person from infection by this virus in any other part of the body. So, chances are rare.
Chance of oral infection is increased in cases of history of oral sex, weakened immune system like in diabetes and HIV AIDS.
You should look for oral ulcers and lesions and if not present, then do not panic.
Chances of developing are rare if you have no history of Oral sex , diabetes and HIV AIDS.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
