Question: Hello Doctor.

I'm worrying about rabies. Actually, it's afraid from rabies. My question is:

(how long) Can rabies virus survive in the sea water? Any chance for transmitting salvia to humans in the sea?

If some animals swimming in our beach, sea can be infected?

I know, it's look like a paranoia but We are afraid to swim now.

it's my concern: ayn chance contact or touch saliva or rabies virus in the sea (While swiming)..

Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Brief answer ...Rabies virus can not survive in sea water.
Detailed answer.
For a person to get rabies,he must be bitten by a rabid animal.
Rabies is a mammalian virus and techniquely all mammals can get infected by rabies including sea horses, dolphins, otters etc,but in reality it doesn't happen so.
Data available till date have not suggested that a person has got rabies from a sea animal. You can relax and as such there is nothing to worry.
You can not get rabies while swimming.
Moreover, even if somebody is bitten by a sea animal and is very very afraid of rabies,he can get post exposure rabbits vaccination.
I hope it helps however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

Hello,
Ultraviolet radiation of sun destroys the virus very fast.
Virus can not survive in saline water of sea.Not only it gets totally diluted,it gets destroyed also in few minutes.
Thanks
