Can I Take 500mg Of Magnesium Daily For Muscle Weakness?

About high dosages of magnesium
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr.XXXX,
I think you should check with your cardiologist before taking a supplement like this. The dose you wrote, 500 mg, isn't that much higher than the RDA (which is 400 - 420 mg total), but I am concerned given the heart muscle deficiency and history of heart attack. Taking a mineral electrolyte can cause cellular level imbalances, so I would not recommend it unless you have cleared this with the cardiologist.
The site you wrote your question here is where family practice/general practice doctors respond to questions, which is why I responded (I am an FP). However if you want a second opinion from a cardiologist, you can repost your question and write "For Cardiologist ONLY please" and one will answer your question here. It may take awhile as we don't have cardiologists on this site all the time. But likely one will respond tonight.
I hope this helps.
