Question: I've been diagnosed with Papillary thyroid carcinoma. I take these Natural supplements for joint pain. It says on the bottle to consult a physician if you have any known medical condition. Just wondering if there's any problem if I continue to take them. Non medical ingredients include. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, purified water, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate.

Hi,

Thank you for the query. I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have been suffering from papillary thyroid carcinoma. At present you want to start taking a supplement.

If you take at present any thyroid replacement therapy, then your supplement's containing magnesium can interfere the absorption of Thyroid hormone therapy and reduce its full effectiveness. Any supplement that contains iron, calcium, magnesium etc can interfere with the treatment of hormone replacement therapy.
So be careful for that.

If you don't take any Thyroid hormone replacement therapy like thyroxine, then you can take your supplement. But, if you take thyroxine or any Thyroid hormone replacement therapy, then you should take the supplement 4 hours after taking your thyroid medication. Then hopefully no interactions will happen in between your supplement and thyroid medication.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I've heard long term fast can help rejuvenate cell and be beneficial to cancer patients. Do you know if there's much science behind this and I should maybe try it? I am obese and could stand to lose weight before I get surgery or chemo or whatever I'm gonna have to go through.

Hi,

Thank you for joining again. There are many scientific theories behind starvation or fasting and cancer. In one study of time regarding fasting of 9-12 hour phases has shown to reverse the progression of obesity and diabetes mellitus. Obesity plays a major role in developing cancer in human body.

A second study of fasting has shown to reduce biomarkers and risk factors for cancer. In a 2016 study, research showed that combination of fasting and chemotherapy could reduce the progression of cancer. This study also showed fasting can make cancer cell sensitive to chemotherapy and protect the normal cell as well as induce the production of stem cells.

Fasting can also help to reduce blood glucose level, production of stem cells can help to regenerate the immune system, balanced diet also can increase immunity system and can increase production of tumour killing cells.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

With being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. It's stressful on my mind I asked my doctor if he thought I should be off work and he thinks I should work up till I start having bad symptoms or my surgery date. I kind of feel better staying home. Wondering if this seems typical? Also with covid still being a thing if I got sick I would have to postpone my appointments with cancer Dr and put off surgery. I already felt kind of high risk being overweight, having high blood pressure and mild cardiomyopothy is early stages of thyroid cancer putting me at higher risk and should I be extra cautious? My gf gets offended that I started wearing a mask around her. She works in high risk places and her son is in school also high risk imo.

Hi,

Thank you for joining again on this platform. I am extremely for replying late. I think you are right that you should away from work as you feel mental satisfaction in your home. As well as, you have comorbidities like cancer, hypertension, and obesity. You are definitely more prone to get the covid-19 infection.

Your doctor may think you can feel lonely at home and may increase your psychological stress as you work in a competitive environment with your colleagues. The working environment can keep you busy as well as away from mental stress regarding your present disease conditions. For those reasons, your doctor may think that it will be better for you to keep up working before the surgery date.

As I have already mentioned, you are more prone to develop Covid-19 infection due to your co-morbidities. You are doing the right things at present for your safety by wearing masks before your girlfriend and her children. If you get infected by Covid-19, then your operation will be postponed and your recovery may become difficult from covid-19 as well.

I think you should keep a distance of 6 feet from any person including your girlfriend and her children, and not spending time more than 15 minutes with any person as a precaution. Keep wearing masks as well. You can discuss with your girlfriend your present health conditions and your safety at this moment. She will be definitely understood everything for your well-being, I think so.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question.
