Brief Answer:
Get evaluated by a neurologist for neuropathy

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Neuropathy improves with treatment if cause is ascertained.
Detailed evaluation is required.
At this age, diabetes, renal function, vitamin B 12, myeloma, drug toxicity should be considered.
Nerve conduction testing should be done too.
Venous insufficiency may lead to abnormal sensory features in lower limbs.
Drugs like pregabalin or gabapentin helps.
Local application of pain killer ointment and gabapentin ointment may help.
You can take voltaren for relief.

Perhaps I was not clear in explaining my problem. I have had neuropathy in my feet and legs for several years. I’ve taken gabapentin, 1200mcg, orally for a very long time. That was originally prescribed to treat spinal stenosis and was very effective. It was not helping the neuropathy. 6 weeks ago I switched to Lyrica which was, in spite of it’s cost, not any more effective. I’m transitioning back to Gabapentin to help the stenosis which flared up after going to Lyrica.
I have been using Fluocinonide Cream on my ankles for many years to treat Venus Insufficiency. I also wear 15/20 compression socks.
I read recently that Voltaren(Diclofenac) might be helpful in treating neuropathy. I have several tubes left over from treating an arthritic knee which has been surgically repaired.
SO....Can I stop using the Fluocinonide cream and use Diclofenac on my feet, ankles and legs. Can I, should I still wear the compression socks?

Brief Answer:
Don't substitute

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Voltaren gel is not going to cure neuropathy.
It is only a pain killer and help symptomatically.
Gabapentin decreases pain associated with neuropathy and safer than diclofenac for long duration.
Fluocinonide is local steroid cream and reduces inflammation. The indication is not clear as Fluocinonide is not usually used in varicose vein or neuropathy.
I suggest to not substitute it with voltaren.
