Can Keflex Be Used To Treat Orchitis?
Question: Can one use Keflex to treat orchitis?
Brief Answer:
This is not a good choice
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
treatment with cephalexine (Keflex) is not the best choice. The best treatment depends on the causative organism.
If Neisseria gonorrhoeae is suspected (gonorrhea) then Ceftriaxone is the best choice.
If Chlamydia is suspected then doxycycline, azithromycin or a fluoroquinolone can be used.
If enteric organisms are suspected the a fluoroquinolone or amoxicillin-clavulanate can be used.
