Brief Answer:
LEEP procedure .

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,

As you have been diagnosed with HPV and abnormal cells on pap and cervical biopsy and hence scheduled for what is known as LEEP procedure (loop electrosurgical excision procedure) to remove the abnormal areas on cervix after a VIA (visual inspection under acetic acid) and iodine staining procedure which helps demarcate the abnormal cervical erosive areas affected with HPV.

These areas would be removed with a 5mm margin electrosurgically under general anaesthesia and the repeat incidence shall be evaluated post procedure with 3 monthly pap smear for first 2 years then 6 monthly.

Its a day care procedure and the most common side effect seen is excessive cervical discharge which is usually physiological and common. Rest the procedure is safe and treatment of choice for LSIL, ASCUS lesion on PAP SMEAR.
