Can Liptor Cause Permanent Liver Damage?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
not permanent, improves in 2 to 3 weeks
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
It is possible that it is the lipitor. Statins (such as lipitor) can cause reversible damage to the liver.
Statins cause an increase in liver enzymes, very very rarely do they cause any severe damage to the liver. Severe damage occurs in 1 or 2 out of 1 million persons using these medications.
Statins do not cause permanent damage to the liver, normally 2 to 3 weeks after the medication is discontinued, improvement is seen.
Glipizide does not cause liver disease, it is not a known side effect of this drug.
The gastroenterologist would do additional blood tests to rule out other causes such as hepatitis.
He or she may also consider more in depth imaging tests.
I hope this helps
