Can Lobate-GM Be Used Safely For A Long Duration?
Question: Hi
my son is 2 month old. We are using Lobate gm from past 1 month before putting diaper on him. I saw online that regular use of lobate will have side effects
please advise best gel or medicine to avoid diaper rash and infection on corners of thighs and private area of child.
I have also heard of zicon dusting powder. will that help.

Lobate gm contains antibacterial, antifungal and steroid. It is used in case of mixed bacterial and fungal infection.Long term use of this ointment is not recommended if there is no significant infection.Zocon powder contains clotrimazole an antifungal and should be used in fungal diaper dermatitis.
Most common cause of redness in diaper area is diaper dermatitis (due to allergy or moisture).
Using ointments containing zinc oxide(like rash free, eazinapi,happynap) is sufficient in such condition and provides relief.
I request you to attach an image or to get her evaluated by a pediatrician to check whether the rashes are simple diaper dermatitis or an infective one.Lobate gm or zocon is not be used for non infective diaper dermatitis.
Keeping the area dry by frequent change of diaper prevents the development of rashes.
Sometimes using a diaper of different brand also helps.
