Can Lupron Or Norethindrone Cause A False Negative On A Pregnancy Test?
Question: I am taking the Lupron shot every 3 months and I am also on norethindrone. Could either of those cause a false negative on a pregnancy test?
Brief Answer:
No, they do not interfere at all.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM for an opinion,
No,
Lupin or norethindrone do not react with hcg levels if you are pregnant and do not interfere with the test at all.
If you are skeptical about the urine pregnancy result then you may undertake a serum beta hcg test , which shall be conclusive. If the hcg levels are more than 3mIU then you are pregnant else not.
