Can Plavix And Nexium Be Taken Together When Suffering From A Heart Condition?

Question: Hi, Dr. Grief,

I am having a heart catherization this coming Wednesday, and my cardiologist has prescribed Plavix to start tomorrow and running through the procedure. I also take 40 mg of Nexium daily. I feel that my cardiologist knows this, but should I be concerned?

Thanks for the query.
It is definitely a big debate which has been going on but it is being said that proton pump inhibitors( PPI )  like PANTOPROZOLE snd ESOMEPRAZOLE  ( NEXIUM ) can be taken with PLAVIX as they cause least interaction with PLAVIX as compared to other PPI like OMEPRAZOLE.
However researches are still being carried out and things may change in future but at the moment,it is being said that you can take NEXIUM with PLAVIX.
Your doctor must definitely be knowing about it and hence you need not worry on this account.
