Can Prednisone Cause Hot Flashes?
Question: can you get hot flashes from prednisone 20mg and I have an upper respiratory infection, could coughing so much make my stomach and chest hurt?
Brief Answer:
Yes it happens in most cases
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking HealthcareMagic,
I can understand your concern
Yes, sharp coughing usually due to lower respiratory infection can cause pain in the thoracic cage and the stomach too. This is due to the muscles chronic contraction due to cough.
Steroids use taken orally or in the intravenous route can usually cause the sensation of hot flashes in the body.
But don't worry so much.
With the passing time, the cough will be more soft and rare and the flashes will disappear after stoping the treatment with prednisone.
I wish you a fast recovery

Ok I have one more question. Back in early February my doctor found blood in my urine with no UTI. They sent me to a urologist. The urologist did another UA, a rectal exam, PSA, cystoscopy, and a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvic area. They said there was no cancer. Ever since this visit I feel they missed something. My doctor said with all this test it would have found something if there was something. she thinks I'm suffering from anxiety issues. Every little pain I have I think I have cancer. Do you agree with her on this matter? Do you think I could be letting my worries get the best of me? She put me on the generic version of effexor 37.5mg. I guess I just need some reassuring. I am always tense. Thank you for helping me sort this out.
Brief Answer:
You have already done all the tests
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
I read the history carefully,
I completely agree with your doctor in this regard.
You have already done all the tests and examinations related to your concern.
In my knowledge, there is not any other test to do for it.
Fortunately, they are all negative and this is certainly a good thing.
In medical terms, we can say that you don't have cancer according to the results of the tests.
Please, don't worry.
Take care
