Can Promethazine Syrup Be Used In Place Of Timinc Drops?
Question: My doc prescribed promethazine syrup I.P for my 1 year old baby weighing 10.5kgs. She asked me to give baby 5ml three times a day. Since it did not work too well for baby I asked doc if I can use tminic drops which he used to use earlier. She said ok. I gave my baby 5ml of tminic just once a day yesterday and today and both the times he vomited. Have I overdosed him? Please help.

It says tminic oral drops. I think its drops. What now?
Brief Answer:
timinic drops not to be given 5 ml
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If it was timinic drop then it should be stopped immediately ( because the concentration of drug is higher in drops)and syrups can be restarted after about 48 hours gap. Till then child may be little dowsy.
Give him plenty of fluids and stimulants like tea and coffee etc.
Hope the query is answered.
