Can Propranolol, Klonopin, Buspar And Latuda Be Taken Together Without Increasing The Toxicity And Effects Of Latuda?

Posted on Tue, 31 Oct 2023
Question: Hello, I am taking 80 mg of Latuda once a day for schizoaffective disorder, 10 mg of Buspar three times a day for anxiety, 20 mg of Propranolol three times a day for anxiety and fast heart rate, and 0.5 mg of Klonopin twice a day for anxiety. It said on drugs.com that buspar, propranolol, and klonopin all increase the toxicity and effects of Latuda and vice versa. Should this cause an overdose of Latuda or increased adverse side effects since all three of the other medications increase the effects of Latuda? Because when I took 120 mg of Latuda for three days with these meds, I woke up at 4 in the morning feeling less alert and overly drowsy as if I had too much of the medication in my system and felt like I had overdosed. So I decreased the dosage of Latuda to 80 mg. Should I have this problem with 80 mg of Latuda in combination with the other medications?

Brief Answer:
My suggestion.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have gone through your query in detail and can certainly understand your concern towards the drug interactions and adverse effects of Latuda

Yes, It has some serious side effects with antibiotics like erythromycin, antifungals, some other antipsychotics etc.

But, I couldn't find any adverse effects as such with the above-mentioned drugs like buspirone, propranolol, and klonopin.

So, these medications don't cause any overdose of Latuda as per my knowledge.

I would like to advise you not to alter the dose of Latuda thinking that the adverse effects you are suffering are due to these drug interactions.

So, I can say it is always advisable to have a word with your treating doctor regarding the alterations of dosage if the response is good.

Hope this information would help you.
