Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney.
I understand your concern.
If the dog which has bitten is fine and shows no symptoms even after 10 days of biting, one can discontinue the treatment. But usually I advise to continue to take 2 more remaining injections. It will just cost money but will give you a surity of safety.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

There is nothing wrong with the dog, it's in good health for the last 13 days. It's a pet, which has an immunization record of last 2 years, and the current immunization is valid till Mar 2015. The issue is not saving or spending money. It's important to know whether there is a benefit in further shots.
Do the three shots given this far provide cover for a future period? If yes, what period? What will the cover period if all 5 shots are taken?

Brief Answer:
You should take.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend.
These shots don't give you life time immunity.
In fact we give re vaccination practically to every patient who even gets rebite after discontinuation of vaccine.
We don't want to take risk as rabies is 100%. fatal.
However if you have good vaccination record you can discontinue the treatment if the animal that had bitten is normal.
I hope it helps.
