Posted on Tue, 9 Dec 2014
Question: My son aged 4 years suffers from mild wheezing and has a tendency to cough 1/2 hr after going to bed as well as very early in the morning. Troed variou remedies and finally Romilast 4 mg did solve this problem. However, if and when the medicine is stopped, the symptoms recur. In winter the entire ailment worsons a wee bit more. Question is can Romilast 4 mg be given continously for say a year, and is there any lasting solution. All blood checks and tests are normal

Brief Answer:
yes.you can continue romilast

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Wheezing at this age is.usually allergic.
Romilast contains monteluekast which can be safely given to kids at this age. You can even continue for a year.
No problems.
No side effects.
Don't worry.
However if symptoms persist you can.get allergy skin testing or specific allergen antibodies ( IgE).
If romilast fails then short course of inhalers may be required as prevention therapy.

Wishing your child good health Regards
