Can Rosubest 10 ( Rosuvastatin ) Can Be Taken With 'grade 2 Liver' Condition.
Hi,
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
There is no consensus till date about use of Rosuvastatin in patients with liver disease. There are conflicting reports about effects of Rosuvastatin on liver. Some of the studies, predict a slight elevation of liver enzymes in the range of 2-5% with higher doses of Rosuvastatin, where as other studies convey even some beneficial effect of Rosuvastatin in liver diseases. Hence a large comparative study is needed to assess the beneficial/ derogatory effects of Rosuvastatin on liver.
Still, one thing is very much clear that, even if any unwanted effect is there, it is usually dose related & side effects are very less with lower doses.
In your case, as the dosage of Rosuvastatin is just 10 mg, hence it is unlikely to have any ill effect on liver in such a low dose of rosuvastatin.
However, till a consensus is reached on the effects of Rosuvastatin on liver, it may be emphasised in your case---
You can take 10 mg of Rosuvastatin as advised by your doctor.
You should get your liver enzymes tested periodically.
If the liver enzymes- particularly SGOT & SGPT are raised to double the level from your base line values, you should immediately stop the Rosuvastatin & consult your doctor for further management.
