Can STD Be Contracted Through Non-penetrative Sexual Activity?

Posted on Tue, 17 Nov 2015
Question: Recently and stupidly I went to a strip club in the US, while there I got very drunk and had a private dance with a stripper. She danced on me for quite a while, at no point did she touch my penis nor was it exposed however I did kiss her using tongues (on the mouth).

After a while I fingered her, I never performed oral on her but I do remember that I placed my finger in my mouth to lube it up, I cannot remember if I had already used that finger to play with her at this point. As far as I know I didn't have any open cuts on my fingers.

Am I at any risk of any stds?

Brief Answer:
HIV/STD risk through kissing and fingering is negligible.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Anal sex and vaginal sex carry high rik among the sex activities whereas oral sex carries a low risk as per CDC, XXXXXXX Rest of the activities including deep kissing and fingering carry a negligible risk only. High risk itself is around 4-11/10000 exposures. If so the negligible risk means very very low nearing almost "nil'. So no to worry. This will also be applicable to STD.

Thank you Dr. S. XXXXXXX for your response. So the rate is incredibly low as you mentioned, does that mean it is not possible to say catch herpes or other stds by first touching vaginal secretions and then placing that finger in your mouth?

Thank you for your quick response

Brief Answer:
Possibility of transmission of HIV/STD by finger to oral cavity is remote.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
All the STD organisms are highly fragile and can not be viable out side the body or body fluids more than few seconds. It can not withstand atmospheric temperature, dryness and Oxygen saturation. So only these infections can not be transmitted through casual contact. So it would be a remote possibility to get transmitted through contaminated finger to lip or mouth.
Not to worry about this possibility.
