Can STD Be Contracted Through Oral Sex?

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Jun 2016
Question: Hi,

A month ago, I had protected oral sex with an escort. I have no STI/HIV symptoms as such, but I just ate something which may have been contaminated and had two vomiting episodes and 3 diarrhea episodes over the course of two days. That would have more to do with potential food poisoning than any STI/HIV symptoms would it? I am asking because this happened a month later. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Not likely to be associated to any STI/STD sir :)

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Sir, your symptoms are more likely to be associated with food poisoning or indigestion, and not an STD/STI. And moreover, the symptoms you are experiencing are not the initial symptoms experienced by any sexually transmitted infections sir, so you can rest assured.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Thank you so much! I also am experiencing fatigue (not body pain but perhaps soreness), but could that be because of the diarrhea? And in general, what are the risks for STI/HIV with protected oral sex?

Brief Answer:
Symptoms to look out for in your partner, and modes of transmission

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

Yes, the diarrhoea causes loss of fluids from the body which can result in dehydration which presents with generalised weakness and lethargy.

The risks are usually not always present because some individuals can be asymptomatic yet have an STD, but some of the symptoms include:

+Sore throat
+Sores in the mouth
+Sores around the oral cavity, on the lips
+Vaginal discharge
+Penile discharge
+Burning sensation while urinating
and a few others.

But modes of transmission include:

+Fellatio (oral to oral)
+Mouth to genital
+Genital to genital (rimming)

I hope this helps solve your query sir. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
