Can STD Be Contracted Through Vaginal Fluid Contact With Skin?

default
Posted on Fri, 9 Dec 2016
Question: Dear Doctor,

I have been in a monogamous relationship for 15 years. I have always been faithful. 10 days ago, however, I visited a masseuse who offers "non sexual nude massage".

I am very anxious and would like to hear another doctor's response, to ease my mind.

In the massage I left my underwear on the whole time. The lady was nude and she sat on my underwear, both on my bottom and my penis area. I am not sure if her vaginal fluids or the massage oil caused wet patches on my underwear near my penis and bottom.

Is it possible to get an STD (including HIV) through underwear if a nude woman sits on your genital area? I have had no symptoms except on and off diarrhea for the last 10 days.

Thank you

Doctor,

Am I at any risk of STD or HIV from this incident? Do I need testing?

Thank you

P.s: the incident occured in Australia.

Brief Answer:
HIV/STD transmission risk is negligible.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
HIV can not live outside the body fluids not more than few seconds. Similarly almost all the STD causing organisms also are highly fragile and can not survive outside the body in the atmospheric climate. Because of these reasons they prefer to be transmitted through sexual route.
HIV/STD transmission facilitated by the presence of minute abrasions caused during sexual act.
In your case during massage procedure and when that girl sat over you, abrasions were unusual. Moreover just a skin contact through the wet and contaminated clothes, transmission of HIV/STD is uncommon. Direct contact if intact skin with the secretions causing HIV/STD is unusual. Moreover all the girls working in the massage parlors are not HIV positive women.
So the possibilities for you to get HIV/STD is remote. You need no testing for HIV/STD. At the same time as you disturbed mentally about that incident, negative tests for HIV/STDs will definitely relieve your unnecessary tension. So there is nothing wrong in taking up these tests.
