Can STD Test Be Taken After A Week Of Completing Doxycycline Course?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Jul 2016
Question: I went to my doctor as I was having balanitis symptoms. He tested me for chlamydia and gonrhea and as a precaution put me on 4 weeks of doxycycline 100mg twice a day. I finished the dose on XXXXXXX 2nd. The tests were negative then. I am still freaking about it and I want to get retested. If I test for std's 5 days after completing doxycycline will it affect the results?

Brief Answer:
If it is cured with Doxicycline the test results will be negative .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted and our previous thread of discussion on this issue I would say that the test result will be negative if the infection is completely cured with Doxicycline else it may turn out to be positive

.The results of the test will not be affected with the timing of the test in relation to completion of course of antibiotic(Doxicycline)

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.
