Question: Hello, I had my third injection of Supartz in my knee on January 12th and still have puffiness at the top and left side of my knee and it is warm to the touch. Is this normal? I'm a 52 year old healthy female who has osteoarthritis in my right knee.

Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:

It is not normal.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

In my opinion, Supartz injection has mild side-effects only for few days.

If you feel that puffiness is there (which was not there previously) and the area is warm to touch- I would recommend CBC with ESR and reexamination by the operating surgeon.

If pain Injection persists then the injection may need to removed from knee joint and C/S of removed fluid to be done.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
