Can Taxim 200 Mg And Metronidazole 200mg Be Taken Together?
Question: Dear Sir Thanks for all your Support .
You had mentioned to give following tablets
Metronidazole (Metrogyl/Flagyl) tablet 400 mg thrice daily for 3 days followed by twice daily for 2 days.
Taxim 200 twice daily will be ok however 400 mg twice daily could be given initially for 3 days followed by 200 mg twice daily for 2 days.
Can we give Taxim 200 mg and Metronidazole 200mg Together or should give some time between these
Can we give VSl3 along with above antibiotics or should be given only once we stop Antibiotics

Metronidazole 200 mg orally is a pediatric dose. Minimum 400 mg is dose effective in adults.
Tab Cefixime 200 mg 9 am -9 pm
Tab Metrogyl 400 mg 9 am-9pm
As you are too conscious about doses of antibiotic let's give her optimal dose only.
Cap VSL#3 twice daily 9am-9 pm.

When we take Antibitic Cefixime my mother would be getting Black stools and Burning sesation would be there while doing stool.
Is this normal or need to take immediate attention?
As per my understanding both metronidazole and Cefixime are Antibitics both used for Baceterial infection one for urine infection and other for stool infection is this right?
Also whether metronidazole is having intercation with any drugs which my mother is taking currently.

Some times drugs causes temporary acidity.
Before giving antibiotic in morning give her veloz 20mg half and hour before.This is an antacid and would prevent heartburn.She could also take these antibiotics with a cup of frozen curd or ice chilled milk both being alkaline would neutralize the acid.
Change in stool color may be due to medicines would go away after few days.
No metro is an antiprotozoal. Protozoa are usually related to intestinal infection.
Cefixime is a broad spectrum antibiotic from a group called cephalosporin highly active against culprit bacteria usually involved in gut and urinary infection(Escherichia coli).
No significant interaction is there she could have it unless and otherwise she is very week or immunocompromised.

Sure thanks for quick reply.Also wanted to confirm how many days this gastric and Hiccups problem would be there?.Since we already finished Antibiotics dose.
Should we wait now or any other test should be done since still Same Problem exist.

Sir i guess you are following two,three doctors at the same time.See this thing is always going to cause loss to the patient because diagnosis doses and tapering is not someone learn in books rather it varies from doctor to doctor.Frankly speaking being over skeptical for general medicines(they are all common medicines) is just making case worse.Rule of thumb is that choose your doctor yourself but once you chose him/her follow what he/she suggests.Combining medicines won't help sir.
Initially you have used only 200mg dose of cefixime in a day(no use of that dose).
have not given her metronidazole(many times cyst etc don't appear in stool test but patient has protozoans in intestines);Its a baseline test and sensitivity is not more then 70% depends on experience of technician power of microscope etc.We can't be bookish.You can yourself see the condition of labs one can see pus cells other can't.
As per me things are getting complex due to improper treatment.
If she was my mother i would have given her a course of following medicines with unnecessarily googling too much-
Tab Rifaximin 550 mg once daily(This antibiotic is not absorbed in blood and works locally in intestine)
Tab Pankreoflat twice daily(gas)
Cap Rablet l once daily(gas)
Tab Cibis twice(anti spasmodic)
Any probiotic
For minimum of three days.
Secondly if we would consider side effects then we can't even give paracetamol for fever because even it can be lethal in rare of rarest case.
Hope you can understand sir that we can't treat numbers or lab reports.Rather we have to treat patient and their symptoms.
Hope you won't take it otherwise and she would be fine soon.

thanks for all your input.I'm following your suggestion alone.I just Consulted but did not take those medicines.
We would wait for 1-2 days to check if problem resolves if not we would strictly follow the medicines which you have prescribed.
