Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The two antihypertensive drugs given to her are very common medications used in treatment of hypertension. It's popularity is because the two are well accepted by most patients. A few report side effects from it. Some reported side effects are dependent limb swelling, dry cough, headache and dizziness. Albeit the side effects are rare and seen in only few patients. Many of them are on this schedule for years without side effects.
Since she is a hypertensive for close to 5 years and has breathing issues, it would be wise to get an echocardiogram. Discuss with her treating physician.
That being said regular follow up with doctor whenever she has a new symptom is important. She should get back to the doctor if any of the aforementioned symptoms or alike is noted.
Further if she is anxious person, I would also involve anxiety treatment under guidance of a trained expert / psychiatrist. Anxiety and stress not only has blood pressure implications but also can be the cause of exhaustion. The need for further evaluation will be based on anxiety evaluation as well as echocardiogram report.
In other words, I will be more interested to follow her up regularly, evaluate for current breathing disturbance and anxiety.
Hope I am clear. Let me know if you need clarifications.
Regards
