Can Telmisartan Cause Diarrhea?

Question: Hello, I'm a 52 year old male the only medication I take is Telmisartan (high blood pressure) 40 mg a day. I had a bout of diverticulitis which they gave me 2 oral antibiotics for. That cure the diverticulitis symptoms but caused a few days of diarrhea. Since that time I have been battling a case of anal itching and discomfort. I can control it with Preparation H but as soon as I have a bowel movement (normal consistency) it irritates the problem to a extremely uncomfortable condition. Any suggestions would be much appreciated? Thank you!

I have gone carefully through your query. The antibiotics have cleared off the normal intestinal flora as well. This has messed up your digestion and possibly changed the composition of your stool. This is possibly leading to chemical irritation of the anal area leading to the itch. I would insist you to:
* Drink plenty of water.
* Apply clotrimazole powder perianally
* Take curd or yogurt since they contain plenty of beneficial bacteria.
* You may take some probiotic preparations like Econorm XXXXXXX twice daily for the next few days.
