Can UTI Cause Elevated PSA Levels?
Question: I was diagnosed with a bacterial uti last week and was prescribed three days of CIPRO 500. During the same time my PSA went from .99 to 2.7. Can this increase be due to the UTI or do you think I might have an infammed Prostate?

Brief Answer:
The rise in the PSA level can be due to prostatitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Based on the fact that you had UTI and your PSA has raised from 0.99 too 2.7 is suggestive of infection of the prostate (Prostatitis).
Prostate being apart of Genito Urinary system it is always common to get an infection of Prostate whenever there is UTI.
Continue taking Ciprofloxacin twice daily for 10 days and repeat PSA after 10 days
There is nothing to be worried about.
Hope I have answered your query.
