Can Vertin-16 Tablets Be Taken As SOS Medicine For Vertigo?
Question: my mother had severe bout of vertigo last year. diagonosed with BPVV.all reports normal. took vertin for a while. now normal.
today she experienced slight reeling when turned right. it was just for 1 second. she is afraid if again she will get vertigo. since last three days she has had a hectic schedule with little acidity.
can vertigo 16 be taken sos .if so what duration . although she too feels at times it might as well not be vertigo per se.age of the patient is 74 yrs.

Brief Answer:
To be given for a week
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
I recommend using vertin 8mg three times a day for atleast a week in a bppv.
However many of my colleagues also give it on sos basis as well. I don't it because invariably patients will end up having a recurrence. 8 mg is sufficient for a mild attack.
I hope I was if help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Brief Answer:
Middle ear
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for getting back
I understand it must be very tough for your mother. Most vertigos are because of middle ear involvement. In the older age group sometimes it is because of deafness due to the nerves known as sensorineural deafness.
I recommend that she approaches an ent surgeon for a pure tone audiometry and local examination
I hope I was of help, please get back to me for any doubts that you might have
