Can Xanax Cause Memory Loss?
My doctor prescribed low xanax dosage. When used 2-3 times/week, affects log (or short) term memory?
Am in my 70's, active, not drawn to drugs.
Again, thanks. XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.
Xanax should not be used in people older than age 65. Any Xanax use greatly increases the risk of memory loss, delirium, falls and bone fractures. I would talk with your doctor about stopping this drug and instead using an SSRI medication like sertraline to manage anxiety.
