Can You Give Suggestion And Some Medication For Her Cold, motion, Stomach Pain?
She seems to have GI infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Please let me know if she has fever. Since how long she has these symptoms. She seems to be having viral gastro-enteritis, which clears up by itself in few days. For this time only some symptom control is needed. She will start feeling hungry when her vomiting and nausea gets controlled. Vomiting and cough is anyways helpful in throwing out mucous from respiratory tract. But if vomiting is too much then we can give medicine for it.
For a child of her age I usually suggest the following medicines for her symptoms:
- Syrup cetirizine 2-3 drops once a day for reducing mucous in throat. So you may give just one dose if sore throat (cold/cough) is not too much.
- ORS one XXXXXXX to be mixed in one L of clean water and offer after every motion. She may or maynot drink it. You may also offer just water after every motion. Discard the preparation after 24 hrs if not used and make fresh preparation next day
- Food can offered as per her choice. Allow her to take decision about the quantity of food that she wants to eat. Milk and juice can make loose motions worse, so reduce their quantity. Fresh fruit especially pomegranate can help reduce loose motions. Curd can also help reduce loose motion. Papaya fruit will help in making the digestion strong. Physical activity will also help restore digestion after the illness.
- Gripe water is nice tonic for stomach pain. Nothing else needed for hungry tonic
Antibiotic like cefpodoxime are usually advised in typhoid, has she been diagnosed with typhoid fever?
Terbodex-AM is also not needed for upper respiratory infection. If you are suspecting lung infection, then having a heated room for her and chest XRay needed.
