Can Z-pac Be Consumed By Mixing It With Food?
Question: I have been prescribed a Z-pac. If I mix it in with my food (not hot) or in a smoothie, will this make the Zithromax ineffective? If it does degrade it, by how much? Thanks
Brief Answer:
there is no problem
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
z-pak can be taken with or without food and it won't make any significant difference. Just avoid taking it with antacids though (2 hours before or after).
Kind Regards!

So I can mix it in won't degrade it?
Brief Answer:
you can mix it if you'd like
Detailed Answer:
Yes, you can take it with your food, but if it's a pill or capsule don't tear it into little parts. Pills (and capsules) are supposed to be taken intact. Some drugs can be cut into little pieces and the absorption won't differ. Some drugs should disintegrate in the stomach and others may be dangerous for the esophagus. I'm not saying that azithromycin is one of them but this is a piece of information that is hard to find and it's not usually in the SPC of the drug.
The liquid form of azithromycin can be mixed though.
