Question: Can zonegran, topamax, keppra, vimpat and nueduexta be prescribed by an internist ALONE without the consult of a neurologist?

I can understand your concern. Without consulting neurologist, no internist can prescribe 4 anti epileptic drugs and one CNS suppressants. This is a very serious combination. Usually, neurologist does not prescribe 4 anti epileptics. It is required in highly refractory seizures or status epileptics.

You must consult the Neurologist at first. Instead of prescribing you all this, he/she will try to adjust you on 2 or 3 drugs. Such combination can cause severe sedation, drowsiness, balance difficulty.
