I would like to get the exact name of the medicines(to see the contents) for giving you a proper advice in this regard. Antiallergic drugs commonly contain a group of drugs called antihistamines, that may be a component of the cough remedy also. So taking both together might not be good

I gave him Claritin :) seems to be sleeping ok now. When can I give him cough medicine if he starts

Hi dear,
Thanks for the information given

Claritin contains Loratidine, an antihistamine.

So we have to avoid cough medication containing antihistamines, as two antihistamines given together can cause excessive sedation and other adverse effects. You can try giving him Plain salbutamol suspension (2mg/5ml) 5ml 3 times daily for cough. If no relief in 3 days or he develops fever/breathing difficultly, kindly take him to your pediatrician for further evaluation and treatment accordingly
