Can A MVP Patient While On Acitrom Conceive?
Question: Respected sir I am (age 35)from erode district. I got married befor six months. my wife (age29). she had undergone mitral valve replaced as 2m star XXXXXXX valve in 1999.(operated by Rajaguru, Chief Doctor, XXXXXXX hospital, XXXXXXX she is taking Acitrom 2mg tablet for the past 17years. (INR test report: 1.3b 2 days back)Now we want a child. How long she has to take the medicine. Will it affect the fetus & Mother. Now she is not yet Preganent. 1 ) I appreciate your decision to go ahead with pregnancy. I will suggest you few things that will help to prevent pregnancy related medical issues.
2 ) I will suggest that she should opt for a healthy diet and regular exercise regimen. Include more portions of fruits, salads and vegetables in daily diet. Drink plenty of water in the day. Avoid deep fried foods, bakery products and refined sugars. Avoid substance abuse if any.
3 ) Adding Folic acid, B 12 and Omega 3 supplements in daily diet will be of help.
This should be started at least 3 months before you plan for pregnancy.
4 ) It is advisable to consult the cardiologist to shift her on suitable dose of low molecular weight heparin. This will help to prevent pregnancy complications related to oral anti coagulation medicine that she is talking.
