Can A Broken Tooth Cause Infection To Other Teeth?

Question: Hi Doctor, I broke half of my central incisor teeth last year and am starting to notice color change on the broken teeth. Am afraid if the teeth could cause infection to my other teeth. Please advice me.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain discoloration of tooth after breakage is commonly due to loss of blood supply to the tooth making it non-vital or dead..

It makes the tooth dark or blackish/ brown in colour..

The tooth can anytime get infected and become painful and if left untreated it can transmit infection to adjacent teeth via roots..

So it is better to consult an Endodontist and get evaluated and he can take an x ray to see the condition of the tooth..
If it is in position to be saved then Root Canal treatment of tooth followed by capping will help in saving the tooth and also improve your facial appearance..
