Can A Cataract Surgery Be Done Manually?

See the answer below in detail
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to HealthcareMagic forum.
I am Dr Aslam here to help you.
Few years back, before sophisticated machines like phaco-emulsifier were available, cataract surgery was done manually with out frequent complications.
Nowadays, manual surgery is not common (but in many developing countries,it still going on successfully) because, procedures like phaco has a very low complication rate.
As the machine failed on the way, your doctor was left with no other options. But,if he is an expert in manual extraction, there is nothing to worry. If the procedure completed with out trouble, complication rate is not much different from phaco.
And,the actual difference depends on the stage at which the machine failed-like before or after emulsification, extraction etc. If it was before emulsification/extraction,we will need to have a comparatively larger incision.
You can discuss these issues freely with your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have further questions,I will be happy to help.
Wishing a faster recovery,
Thank you.
