Question: Sir,
My wife removed hair in tiruppathi temple, while tonsure she got bleeding blood. But the barber just applied used Dettol in the mug and cleaned with used cotton cloth. He is cleaning with the same cloth for all the people.
Is there any risk involved in the activity.
Thanks
XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
Not the best way to clean
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Thanks for the question.
Dettol is a fairly good antiseptic, but the overall description you have given is not the best way to clean a wound on the scalp. Or clean any wound for that matter.
May I ask if she is having any issues with the wound right now? Any discoloration or inflammation of the scalp?
If there is an infection, it can most likely be dealt with by antibiotics and good wound care at your local doctors office.
One of the most wonderful things about the Scalp and the skin on the head is that it is very forgiving, it has high blood flow and is very resistant to infections and scarring.
If this hair donation is to be done in the future, it would probably be a good idea to bring your own supplies with you (if they allow that), A clean razor, gauze, antiseptic solutions, etc (Dettol is fine for most things).
Thanks for checking in. I wish you and your wife good health. Feel free to follow-up.
