Brief Answer:
Treatment can help in complete recovery.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Sometimes there can be relapse of symptoms even on medication. But this can be managed by change of drug/dose.

The disorders themselves can be serious in nature if not managed properly and timely. Aggression, homicidal or suicidal ideas, suspiciousness can cause major life problems.

Regarding the side effect of medications, yes there are side effects. Many of these can be monitored by regular basic investigations and managed accordingly. Sometime lifestyle and dietary changes can also help.

Hope this answers your query.
Thanks.
