Can A Pineal Cyst Affect Hormones In Women?
Question: My MRI showed normal with incidental finding of benign 1cm pineal cyst floating in fluid. Can a pineal cyst affect hormones in women?

Noted your question. Pineal cyst is not uncommon. In majority of patients, it doesn't cause any issues. Occasionally sleep wake cycle may be affected due to the lack of hormone Melatonin. If you do not have this issue,,not to worry.

I suffer insomnia can that be why

Insomnia could be related to melatonin under secretion by pineal gland . Melatonin is only a sleep inducer. But maintenance of sleep is multifactorial. You may try 3 week Melatonin treatment to observe for any improvement.

My neurologist insists its not the cyst. How can he be so sure? It makes sense it could be the cyst. I do get sleepy at night but have difficulty falling asleep so was rx seroquel which works great
