Posted on Wed, 13 Aug 2014
Question: Hi, I believe I have a small cavity in a tooth that already has one filling in it. I have a dentist appointment, tomorrow, but I am wondering if a tooth can have two separate fillings in it?

Brief Answer:
Yes it can be possible.

Hello, XXXXXX
Thank you for consulting with healthcaremagic.

Yes it can be possible that a single tooth has two cavities, but possible only if the cavities are very small, as larger cavities are most of the time interconnected or second cavity might have caused because of the first cavity only called as secondary cavities.
But nothing to worry as an x - ray of a tooth will clear the exact extension of the caries.
Hope it will help you.
Thank you.
Regards.
