I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Yes due to continuous irritation of mucosa (soft layer of cell) by reflux of acid large amount of mucous may be secreted by mucosal layer and hence may cause post nasal drip.Mucosal irritation is the cause of post nasal drip.
To provide some relief you should take antacid or proton pump inhibitor.

Thank you so much for that validation. Although I take mucinex (guaffinesin), it puzzles me as to why sometimes it makes it go away, and sometimes not. That also explains why I have it more often at night or after a big meal and almost always after eating anything acid like tomato sauce. So should I take something like Prevacid or aciphex, or would malanta or tums or milk of magnesia be good enough?
