Can Acid Reflux Trigger Symptoms Of Asthma?

Question: I have reflux treated with acifex. I am awake with acid and phlegm in my throat. I don't normally need medicine for allergies but I feel that may be contributing to my pain?
Brief Answer:
Both conditions very often appear together.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Acid reflux disease and allergy are two connected issues. In 80% asthma is associated with acid reflux. Both conditions affect each other and trigger the symptoms.
Once the allergy gets more intense acid reflux can reappear.
To get back to normal, you should treat both conditions. I suggest you to start taking some antiallergic medicine and anti acid (like Omeprazole) together.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
