Can Adderall Cause Pericarditis? I Had Covid And Then Went
Question: Can adderall cause pericarditis? I had covid and then went back to work after quarantine and thought I was alright and thus started taking my adderall again took the prescribed amount for 2 days but developed heart palpitations and pericarditis afterwards. Is it safe to ever take adderall again after the pericarditis is gone? I need the medication to function at my normal level given my ADHD but I’m afraid and my doctor said it should be ok once the pericarditis has subsided as it was viral related but I’m scared.

Detailed Answer:
Adderall contains amphetamines primarily used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD and narcolepsy. Among the reported and documented side effects pericarditis has not been observed or reported.
However, palpitations or fast heart rate has been reported with the use of this medication. So, its unlikely that your pericarditis is due to adderall.
Pericarditis is most likely the complication of your COVID infection. Post COVID cardiac complications have been commonly observed in the patients.
Yes you can resume with adderall once your completely recover from your cardiac issues.
